"Tiles" is a small (the zip file is 42kB) freeware tool for creating web tiles. A few years ago Syntrillium ceased to mention this little Windows application but gave me permission to create this page linking to the download location on their site. Syntrillium was later bought out by Adobe and shortly thereafter the download link "went bad". The application is now hosted here on my system.
The tiles are created with a fractal algorithm, adapted from an algorithm given in the Mathematical Recreations column by Ian Stewart in Scientific American, December 1992. This is a useful tool, with limited applications, but well worth downloading if you enjoy creating, or simply have a one-time need for web tiles.
