Derekware

"I used to cringe whenever I needed to create a new website.   Oh, it's simple enough to do once you know the basics, but it seems to be so monotonous and I will not return to a WYSIWYG authoring tool.   In my opinion, that's cheating.   I guess I was looking for a program like notepad, but one that was made exclusively for web pages.   Enter Chris Pirillo and Lockergnome.   He mentioned a program called DerekWare in his newsletter that sounded perfect.   I downloaded the file fairly quickly.   A feature-rich program can take hours to download on a 56K modem, so this is a very good "selling point" of the software (not to mention the price of those editors vs. the free Derekware).   I started it up.   I saw that the tags I use most often were on a toolbar for my easy use.   Click and insert.   Digging a bit deeper, I saw that some more complicated functions had wizards.   Not to mention the option of having the obligatory tags inserted for me!   No more <html><head><title> (etc.) for me!   That's put in there for me by Derekware and I can concentrate on the content!   And then we have the customizable tag list.   Just what I needed for the ever-changing world of HTML.   This program is small, simple and adaptive enough that I still use it daily, even though it's last update was in 1986.   How many programs do you have that you can brag on like this?   HTML for me has become easy, but not brainlessly easy.   And these are my reasons why Derekware is a must for anyone who is interested in web design at any level.   Now if only Derek Smith would make CSS a bit less complicated."
