Considering that we haven't updated this in a couple of months, you might get the impression that we have nothing to say. That would be an incorrect assumption; we have a great deal to say but no time to say it. My mother was hospitalized Friday evening, with a bladder infection, and is doing nicely so they'll probably release her sometime tomorrow. Having a little quiet time to write this evening was a windfall we didn't expect but we haven't hesitated to take adavantage of it.
In recent weeks Lisa's developed a knack for web design that's keeping her relatively busy while I've been doing a lot more home-handyman work. On balance, I wish I had more artistic aptitude; she doesn't seem to have quite as many aches and pains as I do. In bygone years elementary schools used to have what they called "Parent Night."" which gave our parents a chance to meet with our teachers. Only a true sadist could have conceived of such an event in the first place, but, be that as it may, the classrooms were often decorated with items the students had crafted with their own nimble hands. Years ago, in more lucid days, my mother informed me that my chosen medium for such craftings was always clay and what I made with the clay was always snakes. I never disputed this contention because the few details I'm able to recall tend to support it. At any rate, while I consider myself to be a far better than average musician and a passable writer, I have a singular lack of artistic ability when it comes to anything craft related.
Nuff said.

My "Other" Job
Once a week, half-day, I work at the Bluffton Store in Bluffton, TX. My other jobs include cleaning houses during the week, cleaning cabins at a fishing resort, and doing gardening work at the local nursery. It occurred to me that none of those jobs was particularly exciting or rewarding, but since I don't have to do any of them all day, every day, it's a very nice way to make something of a living. It's the perfect style of employment for me because of our time restrictions; Don's mother needs supervision at all times. It's also perfect in that no one person or organization holds my ability to earn a living in the palm of their hand, I don't have to compromise my standards to keep a roof over my head. It's also a bit scary because in order to 'make it' I have to promote myself and then keep my promises.
I'm still in the exciting first days of learning web design, a roller-coaster ride in education, I'll tell you. While I'm writing email to friends I find myself adding HTML tags. Makes me laugh every time.
'Til next time,
Lisa
