Just lately, we're especially grateful that central Texas has fairly mild winters because we've been working outdoors most of the time. A month ago we wondered if self employment was such a good idea after all. Now we wonder when we're going to get a day off.
Our friend Sean is moving "home" to Canada. We want to say "Hey Sean, remember winter?". In his blog he made a wise-crack about being trapped in Texas. Lisa and I are both Texans by choice and proud of it so we just don't see his problem but we figure folks have to do whatever they have to do. Still, we hope he thinks of us the first time he's snowed in.
I've been pondering how I was going to simplify the addition of new personal news pages. Prior to this I've updated the navigation menu on each page as new pages were added but that was beginning to be a little time consuming. Subsequent to a suggestion from Sean (the runaway Canadian) I spent some time (this morning) researching my alternatives and decided that frames (as much as I normally dislike them) offered the most easily implemented solution. The navigation menu to the left of this page is on one page and this is the second page. The navigation page doesn't change but this page will change if you select the personal news entry for another date.
I lost a subscriber today (freelists notifies me of each gain or loss). That always makes me feel bad. Lisa shares my desire to make our little ezine the very best of it's type and we care about our subscribers. The actual count isn't a big deal, even though we love to see it grow, but when we lose one we always wonder if there's anything we could have done to keep him/her aboard. Fortunately our readers are a small, loyal (and we like to feel, discriminating) group so, while growth is slow, we rarely lose one. I don't think many of our readers read this personal news section but that's ok too. I've always tried to keep the ezine high on content and low on babble. These pages are here for those readers who wish to know more about who we are and, in case you haven't figured it out, we're just a couple of geeks who love to learn new things. We waited all our lives for the internet and when it arrived, it brought us the world. More importantly, it brought us each other. This website and our ezine are our way of giving something back.
We have a brand new grandson whose name is Oliver. What do you think? Isn't he cute?

There are few gifts more precious than the ability to see beauty wherever you go. Some days you have to work at it, other days, it's as natural as breathing. I think Texas is beautiful, even though it's no one's idea of "lush". This year, we only had to mow once, and that was at the beginning of spring.
At our current job, at sunset, Don said "Quick, grab the camera!" If you'll look through the tree, you'll see the moon, a little enhanced by editing. Texas sunsets are incredible and the weather is wonderful. We watched the sunset and didn't even need jackets on the second week in January.  Happy New Year, y'all.
